FUNCTIONS

The functions that people use the most in Excel are count and sum functions. There are 6 functions to sum and to count in Excel. This functions are called: COUNT, COUNTIF, COUNTIFS, SUM, SUMIF and SUMIFS. We are going to explain them and how to use them so you can understand them much better.

COUNT is used to count the number of cells that contain numbers.

If you need to count cells based on one criteria you need to use COUNTIF. You use it like this: =COUNTIF( where, what)

This image shows how COUNTIFS is used:
COUNTIFS is used to count cells based on multiple criteria and you use it like this: =COUNTIFS(where, what, where, what)

COUNTIFS is used to count cells based on multiple criteria and you use it like this: =COUNTIFS(where, what, where, what)

SUM is used to sum a range of a cells.

If you need to count cells based on one criteria you use SUMIF. You use it like this: =SUMIF(where, what, numbers)

SUMIFS is used to sum cells based on multiple criteria and you use it like this: =SUMIFS(numbers, where, what, were, what)

Blogging Post Nr.3 by Astrid Corbacho, Lisette habig and Britta Ensinck

Functions:

A function is a preset formula in Excel and Google Spreadsheets that is in charge of carrying out different calculations in the cell in which it is located.

Function Syntax:

“A function's syntax is a layout or structure of the function.”

It incorporates the function's name, brackets, comma separators, and arguments.
This picture is related to the audio and shows the structure of a spreadsheet

COUNT:

The COUNT Function is used to count cells, in which numbers are located. This result represents the count of numbers.
The Syntax of the COUNT Function is:

=COUNT (value1, [value2],...)

  • value1 - An item, cell reference, or range.(WHERE TO LOOK FOR, WHAT TO LOOK FOR)
  • value2 - [optional] An item, cell reference, or range.
This is the Syntax function of COUNTIFS

COUNTA:

The COUNTA Function is used to count the cells in which data (numbers, dates, letters) is located. This result represents the count of numbers.
The Syntax of the COUNTA Function is:

=COUNTA(value1, [value2], ...)

  • value1: The cells that you want to count.
  • value2, ....:  It is optional.

COUNTBLANK:

The COUNTBLANK function is used to count blank cells (cells without any data). This result represents the count of numbers.

The Syntax of the COUNTBLANK function is:

=COUNTBLANK(range)

TEXT:

Image result for =COUNTIF
COUNTIF (what it does, syntax and example)
Counting functions area count of items in a list that concord to a certain criteria. There are a lot of them, but in this text we are only explaining countif and countifs. First of all, countif is a function to count items in a list, that match a criteria. You use it to look for a certain thing (numbers, names, etc. ) that repeats itself, in a specific range of things. For example: You have a column with different countries, and some are repeated.  But you want to know how many times Washington appears. Start with an equal sign. Then write countif in it, open brackets and select the column with all the countries in it. You do that, because, by marking the whole column, you select the place where the computer should look for Washington. Afterwards write a comma and select the Word (now Washington) that you are looking for. With this you select what the computer should look for in the before selected column. To finish, close the brackets and the result will appear. Example: =countif (C4:C22,A11).

Functions:
First we have the function COUNT. COUNT is a function that counts the cells that contain numbers (dates also count as numbers).

We also have COUNTA. We use this function to count the cells that contain any type of data (numbers, letters, etc…). To use it, you have to select a cell, type “=COUNTA” and select the column (or columns) you want to count.

To count the quantity of blank cells, you can use COUNTBLANK. There you must select a column or many columns and it automatically counts the quantity of blank spaces. COUNTBLANK also counts the cells that appear empty when you click away from them.

You also can use COUNTIF to count the cells that fit a certain criteria. First you type “=COUNTIF” and then you select the range of cells you want to count. Secondly, you select the criteria that the cells in the range have to fulfill.

If you are using the COUNTIFS function, it’s because you want to count different criteria across multiple ranges. First you type “=COUNTIFS”, then you type where you’re looking for and then what you’re looking for.  You can repeat this last step multiple times.

SUMIF is a function that sums numbers that meet the required criteria. After inserting “=SUMIF”, you type in the range, the criteria and the sum_range. This last step is optional and it’s the range of cells to count together. If it doesn’t get added into the formula, the range is used instead of the sum_range.

The SUMIFS function is the most complex one. It sums the cells that meet multiple criteria. First you type the sum_range, then the first range and then the first criteria. After that, you can keep going and add more ranges and more criteria.

Aproximadly,
20% of the persons o the world use spredsheets, mostly for the work.

But, what can one do in Spredsheets?

Spredsheets is not only usefull to make an organized payroll: one can put
colors to the cells. For that, you need to select the cells you want to paint,
then clic on fill color, and choose a color.
You can also do accounts with the numbers of the
cells, but I only recommend it when the account is not easy, if not, doesnt
make any seans.
One can do an averge too from the numbers
of the cells you selcted

Another usefull funktion is to add charts,
from every kind that you choose, but you will need to select wich
 information  use.  You can
also use the funktions countif, countifs, counta, sumif, and sumif to count how
many cell meet some charachteristic. Those are not the only funktions: there
are more! If you need help, you can watch a video in YouTube.
It will
help!

Functions
Spreadsheet is used in Excel. For example, a hairdresser would use it. One uses it to sum or count a cell or a column or range of cells. Count and sum are called functions. There are different ways to count and different ways to sum.
Count, in Excel, is called COUNT, COUNTIF and COUNTIFS.
Sum, SUM, SUMIF and SUMIFS.
Countif example

COUNTIF is where, what. That means one has to select, where(place) is where one wants to know the what and what(thing), what one wants to know.
If one has a column of cells of where (service), and one wants to know the total that one shaved. One presses a blank cell, inserts the equal sign and writes countif. Next you open a bracket (in the same blank cell), one selects all the column of service, writes(;) and selects the what, shaving. At last, one closes with a bracket and presses enter.

TEXT:
Around the world, comments may work erroneously. Everyone can have a subjective opinion and announce it, but commenting is bad interpretert. Definition of commenting: a)A written note intended as an explanation.

Commenting has something warranting structure. Helped by the blog “Grammar Girl”, we share with you easy steps that will help you show of your maturity in every single one of the social medias.
#1: Determine ure motivation: Is the context you are commentng at to horrible that you can’t let it be? Do you strongly agree with the writter?
#2: Provide context: when there is a lor of commentts already, some people don’t understand. So choose the context to make your comment stand out a little more.
#3: Be respectfull: don’t be harsh on people thinking diferently.
#4: Make a point: Why did you love it? Why was it hurrenduous? Pin it all down in your comment.
#5: Don;t write comments based on yout intituition. That will work sometimes, but it fails 70% of it.
